Part of an Essay

Today’s Organic Farmers and the Tomato producers

Why is it that food from closer farms to home are often more expensive and unable to compete with those of the tomato producers from out of state that have much further to travel? In theory the fact that the tomatoes from the producers could be traveling to more than two thousand miles to reach their destination should be more expensive than the tomatoes that only travel sixty or so to reach the grocery store in town. From transportation, economic benefits, and nutrients the two producers have some benefit to what it is they are doing, while the two work for separate goals as well as influence the market in different ways as well. The first major difference comes from the transportation.
